El Zorro & La Gitana

Meet El Zorro & La Gitana, a laid-back pizzeria located in the neighborhood of Manila, Medellín that has gained a devoted following for its creative and unconventional pizzas. The menu features classic pizzas with various meat or veggie toppings, as well as an unique counter-cultural special pizza to the month. El Zorro & La Gitana offers an easygoing atmosphere and friendly service, making it a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. ​​​​ Challenge From its inception the brand relied mostly on a single illustrated logo for all communication and collateral, a highly recognizable identity but one that felt limiting at times, plus it lacked of an identity system scalable to all the touch points and new ventures of the brand. RESULT The final outcome is a branding revamp with a fresh new visual language that connects with El Zorro & La Gitana's audience, while keeping the brand's roots through a blend of familiarity and novelty, offering a magical, authentic and evocative experience. SOLUTION For the branding revamp, we started with the strategy. By aligning on a new descriptor and embrace being one of the most beloved a local pizzerias. From there we decided that we needed to have a typeface that added more character to the brand and the we set out to develop a different logo variations, mostly typographic so we turn it into a flexible system. To complement the new system we worked on a color palette, a type combo and additional illustrations with graphics inspired by the founders' love for jazz music, art and cinema. Our aim was to create a visual identity that felt fresh and vibrant with a pinch of warmth and nostalgia.
